This is the first time I have ever made turnovers, so sealing them was an experience. I decided to go an easy way and close with a fork one of many options.
Its been a while since I have actually made a pie crust, but it seemed easier this time and was pretty tasty.
The filling consisted of sausage with no casing, Parmesan and mozzarella cheese.
The pies by themselves are okay, it could probably use additional mozzarella cheese. Once you dipped the pie in the marinara sauce it comes together as a complete dish. These are not to bad. These would be great to serve as an amuse-bouche or an appetizer.
very nice! btw, i was a journalism major, not english... i consider it a dumbed-down english degree. let's call it a slang degree. ;) i'm curious about the homemade sauce... i love a good marinara, but am not fond of sweet ones... what's yours like?
ReplyDeleteI am there with you. Not a fan of sweet marinara sauces, so as you can figure this wasn't. I started with canned tomatoes added some herbs and seasonings until it turned out how I wanted it.
